We recommend going through Introduction to A10 Harmony if you have not been there before for understanding how Harmony handles and forwards the traffic coming to your Application Domain.
During the On-boarding process, the basic configuration is created for you in a way that there is no disturbance to your application traffic. After you enable Harmony, the only change will be that the traffic will start flowing through Harmony. The default Service and Smart Flow containers will be created with no policy enabled.
You can create more Smart Flows and Services as needed depending on your application structure. Following can be followed as thumb rules for taking a decision if a Service or Smart Flow should be created:
- If the traffic is going to be served from a different set of web/app servers, new Service should be created.
- If the traffic is going to be served from different ports of the web/app servers, new Service should be created.
- If you want to apply different policies to the traffic, different Smart Flows should be created within the service.
You can always get in touch with A10 Cloud Support for discussing the structure of your application. We shall help you come up with the configuration that best suites your needs.
After you configure Application Domains, Ports, Services, Smart Flows and Policies according to your needs and enable Harmony, the traffic will start flowing through Harmony. The policies will be applied according to the first match of service condition.
Application level insights will be available from the Dashboard and detailed service level insights are available on Metrics page.
